Lost innocence

I miss my innocence

When I thought clouds were made of ice cream
When of toffees and chocolate I would dream

When I thought there were little people inside the TV set
When I played “house” under the mosquito net

When I thought my dad was a super hero
When in front of mom I could a tantrum throw

When I thought Santa Claus was a truth
When I actually believed that the fairy took my tooth

When I thought if I ate seed, a tree would grow from my tummy
When the only gambling I knew of, was playing rummy

When I thought lying would make my nose grow bigger
When my tears would spring from eyes at the slightest trigger

When I thought teachers were next to God
When I never knew there was something called fraud

When I thought my big brother was a dude
When I had no clue about any family feud

When I thought my friends were my life
When life was a fairytale without any strife

When I thought everyone lives happily ever after
When every journey was an adventure

God, why did I grow up?
Why did my innocent dreams break?
Why did I become a realist?
Can I be a child again, for heaven sake?

I DON'T STAND A CHANCE

I am the girl that looks up and says
"Hey, look at the beautiful sun"
I am the girl that notices,
The riot of colors when the day is done.
I am the girl that finds funny creatures
Made by the white clouds in the blue sky.
I am the girl that looks at the moon
For it's serenity gives me a high.
I am the girl who can feel in autumn
The rhythm of the falling leaves
And that spring is God's colorful palette
I am the girl who believes.
I am the girl who closes her eyes
And wishes on a shooting star
I am the girl who says " bless you"
When someone sneezes near or far
I am the girl who needs not much
To be happy and to feel blessed
I am the girl who is all smiles
when people expect me to be stressed
I am the girl who believes in angels
In fairies and in fairytale
I am the girl who won't give up on you
When you falter or even if you fail
I am the girl that you see everyday
But you never give a second glance
For the beauty is in my soul, not my face
So with you I don't stand a chance.

DISTANCE

Let the distance grow
Time will take its own toll
And as the seasons come and go
Before the spring will come the fall
What eyes do not see
The heart does not miss
When miles separate
Not meeting is no crisis.
When distances disappear
And proximity grows
Hearts grow fonder
And the love flows
Seeing,meeting and talking
is the bridge for coming close.
An elixir for the love
That only the heart knows.
But when miles come in between
the bridge just falls apart
It's not just the physical distance
Distance grows between the two hearts
So when you feel it overpowering
Or its too close for comfort
Just put some distance between you
Distance will tear you apart.

IF YOU ARE GONE

If you are gone,I will not mourn.
I will not ask why,I will not cry.
I will sleep at night, wake at sunlight
Tell unfailingly black from white.
I shall thank the Lord, for my daily bread
Snarl when hungry, smile well fed.
I shall not want, I shall not yearn
Whatever life teaches, I shall learn.
There will be no problem with my gait
My steps would sync, will walk straight.
I will work hard to earn my living
To the needy and poor, I shall be giving.
Weekdays I will work, weekends I relax
Will pay all my bills and Govt. tax.
But I will not mourn
For corpses have no life of their own.
And I shall I not cry.
Coz there are no tears, once you die.
For you see
I shall not die.....I shall be dead.

JUST A PAGE

In your book of life.
I am, but a short chapter
Or may be just a page.
But one that preserves the dry petals
Of a once fragrant rose.
Of memories, moments and magic
Of a fairytale romance that was
Just not meant to be.
Of a sweet dream, that remained
Just that, an Unfulfilled dream.
The shortest chapter or a single page
Your book couldn't be complete without me.
For you may not say so
But I hear it in your silence.
I read it in your eyes
that does not meet my eye.
In your eloquence and in your pause.
In your poetry or in your prose.
I have heard what you never said
And I have felt what I never felt.
While I know that you too can feel
The magic that binds us.
In your book of life,
I am, but a short chapter
Or maybe just a page.

And then, love died.....

It lay at the corner,
twisted and torn.
Breathing it's last,
Defeated and down
It tried it's best,
To live, to survive
But it's murderers won
They were not one,but five
First one was silence
It slowly became profound.
They stopped talking to each other
The little they did, was duty bound.
Second was mistrust.
It suddenly grew it's ugly head.
Slowly but surely the doubts came,
and then the faith too disappeared
Third was the ego.
The hearts became full of "I"
It was another severe blow
And love started to die.
Then came the green demon.
Jealousy started to grow.
They started to compete with each other
Putting the other down was a daily show.
The nail on the coffin was disrespect.
It came when empathy had gone
What else can you then expect?
Love died a death forlon.😞

Footprints

Some people you meet
Will leave their footprints on your heart
They leave a part of their soul
When from your life they depart
They leave a melody behind
Which keeps playing on your mind
They leave you a lesson
With blessings divine
They come to hold your hand
When you are down
They come to give you joy
And happiness profound
They come to guide you to faith
When you are in doubt
They come to just show you
What life is all about
They may bring you tears
They may bring you joy
They may cause heartbreak
They may, your confidence destroy
They may bring sunshine
They may bring rain
They may bring happiness
They may bring pain
They touch your life
They leave their mark
To your life's fire that is burning
they add their own spark
They add their own colors
To make a beautiful rainbow
So be grateful for them
And let life's magic flow
