My beautiful blue porcelain cup

I had a beautiful porcelain cup

It was my favorite, you see

It had blue flowers and a golden rim

From it every morning I had my tea

I simply loved my  porcelain cup

I was addicted to its charm

From it I would slowly sip my tea

And it would keep my heart warm

I don't know if my favorite cup

Was also addicted to my lip

But I loved it with all my heart

Would rejuvenate with every sip

Then one fine day I noticed a crack

It sure did break my heart

I tried my best to put it together

With it, I didn't  want to part

Now that I would use the cup

Sometimes the tea would spill

But my love was so utterly blind

Again the cup I would fill.

I didn't let go, I held it so

In my hands and in my heart

The thought of my morning sans it

Would pierce my heart like a dart

Then alas, one fateful day

It broke in my hand

Scalding tea fell on my lap

This was something  unplanned

Oh, how I grieved for my  porcelain cup

The cup with  flowers blue.

Now not  only did I nurse a broken heart

Had blisters on my body too

It was my besotted love for it

That made me burn my fingers

Even though at times, I do resent

The memories still in my mind lingers

For if I had put the cup away

when it had just a crack

Perhaps I would not have burnt myself

And my heart too would be intact

It's the same with some relationships

Which we drag on, after it ceases to be good

The fact remains when it  starts to hurt

Try to  be aloof, we should

The more we linger on a relationship

That's seeping us of  our  happiness

The more we hurt, the more we brood

The beauty turns into ugliness

So keep your cups away for good

When it develops a crack that you  can't mend

For you want the good memories to remain

With painful blisters you don't want to end.

TRAVEL

I want to travel to the mountain's

I want to cross the seven seas

I want to feel the desert sand under my feet

And on my face, the ice-cold breeze

I want to be out in the wild

I want to be one with nature

I want to see God's artwork

Make travel my personal teacher

I want to see nature’s wonders

And man-made wonders too

They say there are only seven

If only they knew!!

With my wings spread out, I stand at a cliff

And the world is calling out to me

How do I pen my travel list?

I travel to set my soul free!!

Give me wings

So, I travel the skies

No passports, no visas

Across borders I fly

Snow clad mountains

Or hot burning sands

My travel list is unending

It’s getting out of my hands

I want to travel the world,

Today and forever

As I discover destinations

It's myself I discover!

Lost innocence

I miss my innocence

When I thought clouds were made of ice cream
When of toffees and chocolate I would dream

When I thought there were little people inside the TV set
When I played “house” under the mosquito net

When I thought my dad was a super hero
When in front of mom I could a tantrum throw

When I thought Santa Claus was a truth
When I actually believed that the fairy took my tooth

When I thought if I ate seed, a tree would grow from my tummy
When the only gambling I knew of, was playing rummy

When I thought lying would make my nose grow bigger
When my tears would spring from eyes at the slightest trigger

When I thought teachers were next to God
When I never knew there was something called fraud

When I thought my big brother was a dude
When I had no clue about any family feud

When I thought my friends were my life
When life was a fairytale without any strife

When I thought everyone lives happily ever after
When every journey was an adventure

God, why did I grow up?
Why did my innocent dreams break?
Why did I become a realist?
Can I be a child again, for heaven sake?

I DON'T STAND A CHANCE

I am the girl that looks up and says
"Hey, look at the beautiful sun"
I am the girl that notices,
The riot of colors when the day is done.
I am the girl that finds funny creatures
Made by the white clouds in the blue sky.
I am the girl that looks at the moon
For it's serenity gives me a high.
I am the girl who can feel in autumn
The rhythm of the falling leaves
And that spring is God's colorful palette
I am the girl who believes.
I am the girl who closes her eyes
And wishes on a shooting star
I am the girl who says " bless you"
When someone sneezes near or far
I am the girl who needs not much
To be happy and to feel blessed
I am the girl who is all smiles
when people expect me to be stressed
I am the girl who believes in angels
In fairies and in fairytale
I am the girl who won't give up on you
When you falter or even if you fail
I am the girl that you see everyday
But you never give a second glance
For the beauty is in my soul, not my face
So with you I don't stand a chance.

DISTANCE

Let the distance grow
Time will take its own toll
And as the seasons come and go
Before the spring will come the fall
What eyes do not see
The heart does not miss
When miles separate
Not meeting is no crisis.
When distances disappear
And proximity grows
Hearts grow fonder
And the love flows
Seeing,meeting and talking
is the bridge for coming close.
An elixir for the love
That only the heart knows.
But when miles come in between
the bridge just falls apart
It's not just the physical distance
Distance grows between the two hearts
So when you feel it overpowering
Or its too close for comfort
Just put some distance between you
Distance will tear you apart.

IF YOU ARE GONE

If you are gone,I will not mourn.
I will not ask why,I will not cry.
I will sleep at night, wake at sunlight
Tell unfailingly black from white.
I shall thank the Lord, for my daily bread
Snarl when hungry, smile well fed.
I shall not want, I shall not yearn
Whatever life teaches, I shall learn.
There will be no problem with my gait
My steps would sync, will walk straight.
I will work hard to earn my living
To the needy and poor, I shall be giving.
Weekdays I will work, weekends I relax
Will pay all my bills and Govt. tax.
But I will not mourn
For corpses have no life of their own.
And I shall I not cry.
Coz there are no tears, once you die.
For you see
I shall not die.....I shall be dead.

JUST A PAGE

In your book of life.
I am, but a short chapter
Or may be just a page.
But one that preserves the dry petals
Of a once fragrant rose.
Of memories, moments and magic
Of a fairytale romance that was
Just not meant to be.
Of a sweet dream, that remained
Just that, an Unfulfilled dream.
The shortest chapter or a single page
Your book couldn't be complete without me.
For you may not say so
But I hear it in your silence.
I read it in your eyes
that does not meet my eye.
In your eloquence and in your pause.
In your poetry or in your prose.
I have heard what you never said
And I have felt what I never felt.
While I know that you too can feel
The magic that binds us.
In your book of life,
I am, but a short chapter
Or maybe just a page.

And then, love died.....

It lay at the corner,
twisted and torn.
Breathing it's last,
Defeated and down
It tried it's best,
To live, to survive
But it's murderers won
They were not one,but five
First one was silence
It slowly became profound.
They stopped talking to each other
The little they did, was duty bound.
Second was mistrust.
It suddenly grew it's ugly head.
Slowly but surely the doubts came,
and then the faith too disappeared
Third was the ego.
The hearts became full of "I"
It was another severe blow
And love started to die.
Then came the green demon.
Jealousy started to grow.
They started to compete with each other
Putting the other down was a daily show.
The nail on the coffin was disrespect.
It came when empathy had gone
What else can you then expect?
Love died a death forlon.😞

Footprints

Some people you meet
Will leave their footprints on your heart
They leave a part of their soul
When from your life they depart
They leave a melody behind
Which keeps playing on your mind
They leave you a lesson
With blessings divine
They come to hold your hand
When you are down
They come to give you joy
And happiness profound
They come to guide you to faith
When you are in doubt
They come to just show you
What life is all about
They may bring you tears
They may bring you joy
They may cause heartbreak
They may, your confidence destroy
They may bring sunshine
They may bring rain
They may bring happiness
They may bring pain
They touch your life
They leave their mark
To your life's fire that is burning
they add their own spark
They add their own colors
To make a beautiful rainbow
So be grateful for them
And let life's magic flow

DARE TO DREAM

Misty eyes during the day
Wet pillows at night.
Heart that always feels so heavy
Even though it feels hollow inside.
Crumpled sheets on the bed
Tell tales of the restless nights.
Dark hollows under the eyes
enough to give a child a fright.
Is this what they call heart break?
It breaks the spirit, not just the heart
The self esteem lies shattered
The helplessness just tears you apart.
No love is worth this agony
No one is worth this pain.
The one you are pining for, is heartless
All your cries are in vain.
So pick up the pieces girl.
Put back together your self esteem.
Life is bigger than a broken relationship
Yet again, dare to love and dare to dream.

SMILES AND SORROWS

Show me a heart that has not been broken
Show me a dream that did not die
Show me a hope that has not crashed
Show me a doubt that has not questioned why
Show me an eye that has not shed a tear
Show me a soul that is not bruised
Show me a faith that has not faltered
Show me a goodness that's not been used.
Show me a hero who does not have a regret
Show me a brave who was not scared
Show me a saint who has not sinned
Show me a sane who was never mad
There is nothing perfect in this world
It exists but in stories and in tales
It exists in the eyes of the lovers
It exists only where the intellect fails
A little sorrow makes the happiness complete
A little sun makes you appreciate the shade
A little rain is needed to bring out the rainbow
Smiles and sorrows are of what our life is made.

NURTURING

A tiny seeding
Cuts across the tough barrier
And peeps out say hello.
Victory for the little warrior!
Sun shines down a sweet smile
Rain is a blessing after the strife
The wind gushes to greet it.
World welcomes a new life.
Being born from the womb was easy
The challenge is to survive
For now it needs nurturing
It needs love to thrive.
Someone to water it daily
Someone to mow the soil
Someone to protect it from danger
It's a lot of hard work and toil
Into a beautiful plant it will grow
If it gets the right nurturing
The gardener has to keep caring
To keep it healthy and blossoming
It's the same with relationships
You have to nurture with love and care
It needs time,patience and involvement
Whenever needed, you have to be there.
Not only when the relationship blossoms
But always, as slowly it gets deeper.
Like a gardener you have to tend to it.
If you want it to last forever.

WITH YOU

With you I want to go for a long drive
…having no destination in mind
With you I want to share a laugh
…reasons we will find

With you I want to watch a sunset
…and hold my sun in my arms
With you I want to fly to the moon
…and steal some of its charm
With you I want to sing a song
…to the melodious tune of our heartbeats
With you I want to talk whole night
…till the moon and the sun meets
With you I want to have a fight
…for us to kiss and make up
With you I want to nap on the beach
…and to the sound of the waves wake up
With you I want to climb the mountains
…and gaze at the view in wonder
With you I want to spend my days
…with sunshine, rain and thunder

DON'T COMPLICATE

Keep it simple
is the mantra
for a peaceful life.
But is it that simple
to keep it simple?
The wandering wants and the titillating thoughts
cross the boundaries of reason
trying to wash you away into the vast sea of complications.
But why complicate?Tell that to the illogical heart
who knows what it would mean to fall into the abyss.
Never to be found again.Yet it falters.
And towards the untrodden waters it ventures.
Keep it simple, life is too short
to untangle the knot.
Once you are lost in the maze
and your heart strays
there is no deliverance.
You sink into the bottomless sea.
Never to be free.
Tied in shackles of complications
unfulfilled wants and impossible relations
Simple life, simple wants, simple desires.
Life is peaceful when simple and straight
So keep it simple, don't complicate.

BEING HUMAN

A child grows into a man or a woman but who is human?
If you can wipe off a tear from a face
If you can bring back the smile with grace
If you can tend a broken heart
You are human

When you share your super with a hungry soul
When spreading happiness all around is your goal
When for a tired traveler you open your door
You are human

Being human is not being a man or a woman
It is feeling the pain that’s not your own
It is feeling the love for all Gods Children
Its serving the purpose of being born
Be human.

FROZEN MOMENTS

I reach out for the stars
Gather some in my in arms
Some fall into my eyes.
The moments flow like a shimmering river
It whizzes past, but stays still in time
Like a memory frozen in the mind.

These moments , stolen from destiny
These are just for you and me
Its when we grow the wings
And in the open blue sky, we fly
No borders, no boundaries, no bindings
Free to be lost in each other.

But moments are only moments,
Fleeting, they don't last a lifetime.
They are flickering like a fading lamp
And before we blink, its gone
To each our world, we return
The moments as memories, frozen in our minds.

HER EYES DON'T SMILE ANYMORE

She throws back her head and laughs at the jokes
She smiles sweetly at all the people she knows
Her greeting is the loudest when she meets all the blokes
She parties hard as she drinks and smokes
But her eyes don't smile anymore....
The man she loved just dumped her last week
She stifled a scream, no words did she speak
Oh,she cried some tears and her smile turned bleak
Then bounced back to life as if it was an incident freak
But her eyes don't smile anymore.....
That's what happens when relations break
A part of us, with them, they take
The jingle from the laugh , or the charm of the face
She could somehow, through the ordeal make.
But her eyes don't smile anymore......
He said she will always be special, you know
But the words to her, sounded hollow
These lines are often said to soften the blow
She didn't argue, just went with the flow
But her eyes don't smile anymore.....
They had not spent lot of time together
There was no ring, nor any courts paper
The moments they spent had seemed like forever
When he left, her own pieces she did gather.
But her eyes don't smile anymore.......
He will always, have a place in her heart
Even after he left her, he will still be her part
The scar on her heart will never depart
Though she is trying to make a fresh start
But her eyes don't smile anymore......

YOU HAPPENED

I was sitting at the dusk
Reflecting on the day
As the sun kept sliding
making way for the moon....

The orange of the sky
Shimmering on the river below
Made a crimson hue
on the still waters
I was silent, serene and satiated
Smiling to a some distant song
Playing far away in the recess of my mind
And then you happened.

You made the dusk feel like dawn
As the sun decided to stay still
And the trees swayed to the melody
Of the nightingale's sweet song.

Serenity surrendered to strife
Between the mind and heart
The silence was marred by a thousands screams
That said " no" to you happening in my life.

But since , in my life, you happened
the satiated smile was a thing of past
A discontent grew, fuelled by the desire
Restless spirit looking for rainbows at night.

You touched my life
like a stone that made ripples
like an ache in my soul
like a longing unfulfilled.

You happened for a reason
For now when I slip into the arms of night
I would have known what it is
To have an imperfect life and an unrealised dream.

NEED MORE TIME

I love you Lord and will come to thee
But before I come there's a lot to see.
There so less time and so much to do
Once I am done, will come to you.

The breaking dawn of a summer morn
The falling dusk when the night is born
I am yet to see, I am yet to feel
When the dancing trees at your altar kneel.

The snowy  peaks dressed in virgin white
Like a Christian bride, oh what a sight.
The recklessly rivers and the shameless streams
Rush to the sea to fulfill their dreams.

I am yet to go, following the rainbow
where the sky hugs the earth, in love, you know
There is so much beauty and so much love
the world you made is like the heaven above.

Limitless Beauty you bestowed on us
But men too have created  many wonders
Such classic movies, such engrossing books
Beautiful paintings worth more than it looks

Soulful music that seeps in your soul
It joins the pieces and makes you whole.
The  dance and drama have a language of its own
Transports you to a world you have never known.

Lunch with friends or candle light dinner
Never ending debates where everyone is a winner
A stroll in the park or a picnic in the woods
A simple honest life sans all  falsehoods.

Last, not the least is the desire in me
To wipe off the tears on every  child's face I see
I want to laugh and I want to cry
Want to make a difference  before  I die

So much to see and so much to do
List is long  but the days are few.
For all these chore I need time for sure
Not just  one lifetime but many more.
